Scott Kazmir K’s 10, Solid For Indians Against A’s

Indians NewsScott Kazmir turned in his best effort  as a starter for the Cleveland Indians, striking out 10 over six innings and allowing one run, a home run to Josh Donaldson in the sixth inning.

It was the 18th time in his career that he has struck out 10 or more in a game, and the first time since August 26, 2009.  His fastball reportedly touched 94 mph today.

He allowed five hits and walked none. The Indians scored six runs over the first three innings in support of Kazmir as the  29-year-old left-hander lowered his ERA to 4.87.  Jason KipnisNick Swisher and Mark Reynolds hit home runs for Cleveland

Fantasy Play:  Kazmir is and remains a risk as a starting pitcher on your fantasy team.  If you are so inclined pick him up and watch him for a start or two. Kazmir  is certainly capable of turning in performances like this but consistency has always been his enemy. He has the propensity to put up nice strikeout numbers,  but can also give up earned runs and walks very quickly. Kazmir is owned in less than 2% of ESPN leagues.
