Jason Kipnis Homer in Extras Lifts Indians

Indians NewsJason Kipnis’ tenth-inning walk-off, three-run home run would seal a 6-3 victory for the Cleveland Indians against the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

Following a walk (and subsequent stolen base) by Drew Stubbs and an infield hit by Michael Bourn, Jason Kipnis would step to the plate with two outs and launch his seventh home run of the season to right field off of Seattle reliever Lucas Luetge.

After an abysmal month of April, hitting .200/.269/.286 with 1 home run and 4 RBI, Kipnis has caught fire in May. Through 15 games this month, Kipnis is hitting .295 with 6 home runs and 19 RBI, a huge turnaround for the Cleveland second baseman.

With this victory, Cleveland remains the AL Central division leader, half a game up on the Detroit Tigers. The Indians have won 7 out of their last 10 games and look to extend their divisional lead as they continue their four-game home series against Seattle.
