Indians News: Trevor Bauer To Start, Scott Kazmir to the DL

Cleveland Indians NewsThe Cleveland Indians placed starting pitcher Scott Kazmir on the 15 day disabled list with a right rib cage strain.  the Indians announced that Trevor  Bauer will start in Kazmir’s place on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Bauer, 22, was 12-2 with a 2.42 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 157 strikeouts in 130 1/3 innings in 22 starts among Double-A and Triple-A last season in the Diamondbacks organization.

Bauer was in a battle with Kazmir for the number five spot in the Indians starting rotation this spring  and was eventually reassigned to AAA.  Kazmir is expected to miss two or three starts but is return could be hampered with the return of right-hander Carlos Carrasco who is currently serving a six-game suspension.
