Robin Ventura Defended by Chris Sale as White Sox Hit Tailspin

Just three weeks ago, the talk of baseball was Chicago. The Chicago White Sox held a lead of six games in the American League Central.

However, on Monday morning, the White Sox are in third place 1 game behind the Kansas City Royals after losing six straight games.

Fans are starting to call for the firing of manager Robin Ventura, while White Sox pitching ace Chris Sale does not want to hear that kind of talk about his manager.

Sale said the last time he checked, Ventura had not given up any runs, made any errors and he is sitting in the dugout the entire game.

The losing streak, said Sale was on he and the rest of his teammates and it is up to them to win games. He understands people want to point some fingers and to find blame.

However, when the day is over the responsibility falls on players to do their job. Sales said the players had to find out how to turn things around and keep fighting, as the season is still very young. He added that the team had too much chemistry, morale and talent and was just going through a rough patch.

The rough patch has been very rough. Sale pitched through seven innings on Sunday and left holding a lead of two runs. The Royals went on to score 3 times in the eighth and won the game.

David Robertson the closer for Chicago was not available due to throwing 29 pitches his last outing while giving up six runs against the Royals.

The White Sox led by six runs in the ninth with one out prior to blowing the game. That loss followed Friday’s opener that Chicago led by 3 runs during the seventh only to lose 7-5.

Chicago has now lost 14 of its past 18 including the past six after people had been talking about having a World Series between the two Chicago clubs as the Cubs continue to be the talk of baseball.

Ventura said on Sunday he did not feel any additional pressure than he has always felt.

The White Sox open a series on Monday against the New York Mets and will face Matt Harvey, who finds himself amidst a terrible slump and is teetering on being dropped from the starting rotation of the Mets.

Neither the White Sox, Ventura nor Harvey will likely turn things around on Monday, as the rain continues on Monday in the Big Apple and the game could be postponed.
