The Boston Red Sox have recalled third baseamn Will Middlebrooks for AAA Pawtucket. Middlebrooks will replace Brandon Snyder who will be placed on the disabled list.
In 21 games for the Sox this season, Snyder has hit .209/.227/.419 with two homers and seven RBIs.
Middlebrooks was sent down to the minors after a dismal start to the season hitting .192/.228/.389 in just over 200 at bats.
Middlebrooks has not exactly overwhelmed the competition in Pawtucket, hitting .268/.327/.464 in 45 games.
He was riding an eight-game hitting streak before being promoted, posting a .333/.361/.545 line during that span.
