Red Sox Beat Up on Hapless Astros Again

Red Sox NewsThe Boston Red Sox are playing good baseball and are off to a 16-7 start. The Houston Astros are not playing good baseball, and have won just seven games in their first 23.

That’s not a recipe for competitive baseball games.

Boston pounded out 17 hits,  including nine extra-base hits in a 7-3 win over the Astros. Backup catcher David Ross hit two home runs, David Ortiz homered for the second straight night, and Will Middlebrooks led off the fourth for Boston with another home run and the outcome was never in doubt.

Boston (16-7) is two wins short of tying the club record for the month with three games remaining, including two against the Astros.

Ryan Dempster in his best outing since joining the Red Sox struck out 10 and allowed two runs and four hits over six innings,  Earning his first win of the season.

Houston will try and avoid another beating  when they send Brad Peacock and his 7.50 ERA up against Felix Doubront  for Boston.
