Boston Red Sox Rookie Program In Full Swing

 Xander Bogaerts will headline a field of Red Sox rookies

The Boston Red Sox will get a glimpse into the future when the team host its Rookie Program which begins today and runs all week. The program will provide seminars to help players assimilate into the major-league lifestyle off the field.

Guest speakers will include Red Sox executive vice president/COO Sam Kennedy, general manager Ben Cherington, manager John Farrell, special assistant to the general manager Jason Varitek, hitting coach Greg Colbrunn, pitching coach Juan Nieves, strength and conditioning consultant Mike Boyle and mental coordinator Bob Tewksbury.

The real attraction will be the on-field activities.

Super Red Sox prospects like Jackie Bradley Jr., and  Xander Bogaerts  will participate in two workouts per day that emphasize strength and conditioning as well as fundamentals.

Bradley Jr. is widely thought of within the organization and in baseball as the centerfielder of the future for the Red Sox.   Bogaerts who was named to the Baseball News Source Top 10 Prospects List will headline the roster of 11 top Red Sox prospects.

Allen Webster and Rubby De La Rosa, were both acquired in the blockbuster deal with the Dodgers earlier this summer will attend along with knuckleballer Steven Wright. Catchers Dan Butler and Christian Vazquez will also attend.
