NL Recaps – Jason Heyward leads Braves over the Giants

Atlanta 7 – San Francisco 3 –  Jason Heyward in a three-run home run’s and Michael Bourn had two hits and two RBI for the Braves to lead Atlanta over the Giants 7-3.  Madison Bumgarner fixed into the seventh inning allowing four runs and got the loss.

St. Louis 2 – Cincinnati 8Mike Leake pitched into the seventh inning, and Brandon Phillips had three hits, Jay Bruce added a two-run homer, and Ryan Ludwick had three hits to lead the Reds over the Cardinals 8-2

Houston 1 – New York 3 – R.A. Dickey tossed seven innings of one-run ball to win his 16th game of the season. The wind snapped a six-game losing streak for the Mets. Justin Turner hit his first home run for New York

Colorado 4 – Chicago 3Andrew Brown hit his first career homer, pinch-hitter Josh Rutledge had a two-run shot to lead the Rockies over the Cubs 4-3. Brett Jackson went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk

Milwaukee 0  – Pittsburgh 4  –  Jeff Karstens pitched into the eighth inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0. Pedro Alvarez had two hits for the Pirates and Aramis Ramirez  had three hits for the Brewers

Washington 2  – Philadelphia 4  –   Roy Halladay and Gio Gonzalez both pitched well but it was Halladay who pitched a little better allowing two runs and seven hits in seven innings of work to lead Phillies over Washington 4-2.  Jonathan Papelbon recorded his 29th save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth. John Mayberry homered and drove in three runs.

Miami 2 – Los Angeles 8 Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run in his first at-bat as a member of the Dodgers, a three-run blast in the first inning. Andre Ethier added his 14th home run later in the game. Giancarlo Stanton continued his torrid hitting with his 28th home run season for the Marlins. Clayton Kershaw allowed two runs and three hits over eight innings.

San Diego 9  – Arizona 3 – The San Diego Padres used the power of Chase Headley, Carlos Quentin, and Yonder Alonso to lead San Diego over Arizona 9-3. Clayton Richard pitched eight innings of three run ball to earn the win. Aaron Hill homered for the Diamondbacks. Justin Upton had a inside the park home run in the second inning for Arizona.
