Cabrera launched a 2-run homer in the fourth inning

The Detroit Tigers scored a run in the first inning when Delmon Young singled home Omar Infante and when Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta hit two-run homers in a four-run fourth inning against CC Sabathia the outcome was never in doubt.

Austin Jackson added a solo shot in the seventh for Detroit and Peralta added a second home run in the eighth.

The Tigers swept the Yankees in the ALCS 4-0  and will advance to the World Series for the first time since 2006 . It was their 11th American League Pennant.

Yankees ace Sabathia was hammered for 6 runs, 5 earned on 3 2/3 innings. He gave up 11 hits. Max Scherzer didn’t give up a hit until the sixth inning and stuck out 10.

The Yankees offense managed two hits including a run scoring double be Nick Swisher. Alex Rodriguez did not start, but was called upon to pinch hit. he stayed in as a DH and was 0-for-2.

Scherzer, Justin VerlanderAnibal Sanchez and Doug Fister allowed only two earned runs against the Yankees. It was the first time teh Yankees had been swept in a post-season series in 32 years.
