Scott Rolen error helps Giants win Game 4

The San Francisco Giants scored a run on a two-out Scott Rolen error for a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds in game three of the National League Division Series. Rolen followed a short hop grounder by Joaquin Arias and threw late to first base.

Cincinnati Reds starter Homer Bailey took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed just one hit, one earned run and struck out 10 in seven innings of work. Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong completed five innings of work allowing one earned run and striking out five.

Jeremy Affeldt,  Santiago CasillaJavier Lopez and Sergio Romo shut out the Reds the rest of the way. The two teams combined for seven hits total. Barry Zito will pitch Game 4 on Wednesday for the Giants.

The Reds have not announced a starter for game four and must decide whether or not to start ace Johnny Cueto, who was forced out of the series opener in San Francisco with spasms in his back inside.
