Philadelphia 5 – Atlanta 1 –  Cliff Lee threw seven shutout innings allowing five hits and the Phillies beat the suddenly slumping Atlanta Braves 5-1. Jimmy Rollins hit his 16th home run of the year for Philadelphia. Tim Hudson gave up five earned runs in five innings for the Braves

St. Louis 10 – Washington 9 – David Freese homered, drove in three runs , and Matt Carpenter had a three-run double for the Cardinals to the Washington 10-9.  Adam LaRoche had two hits and three RBI including his 24th home run of the season. Danny Espinosa also homered for Washington, Jordan Zimmerman gave up eight runs in 3 2/3 innings of work. Kyle Lohse allowed eight runs, five earned, and 5 2/3 innings for the Cardinals

San Francisco 5 – Chicago 2 –  Tim Lincecum pitch 6 1/3 effective innings in the Giants beat the Cubs 5-2 . David DeJesus hit a home run for the struggling Chicago Cubs. Buster Posey had two hits and a run scored for the Giants

San Diego 1 – Colorado 9  – Tyler: hit his 16th home run of the year and Dexter Fowler at his 13th for the Rockies as they beat the San Diego Padres 9-1. Edinson Volquez

New York 5 – Miami 3it’s –  Kelly Shoppach delivered a two-run single in the ninth inning to propel the New York Mets to a 5-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. Josh Johnson pitched eight innings for the Marlins and got a no decision allowing just one earned run.

Pittsburgh 2 – Milwaukee 3Corey Hart hit a walkoff homer in the ninth inning and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2. Pedro Alvarez hit his 27th home run of the year Pittsburgh

Cincinnati 1  – Houston 2 –  Cincinnati second baseman Wilson Valdez‘s error on a routine grounder by Jose Altuve with two outs in the ninth inning lifted the Houston Astros to a 2-1 win over the Reds
