Minnesota 0 – Texas 8 – Adrian Belte continued his torrid hitting, hitting for the cycle and backing up the strong effort of Matt Harrison to a Texas win 8-0 over Minnesota. Harrison took a no-hitter into the seventh and went eight innings striking out five and walking two. Ian Kinsler had two hits and two RBI for Texas.

Oakland 5 – Tampa Bay 4 – Two former Rays  players led Oakland to a victory over Tampa Bay 5-4 at Tropicana Field. Johnnie Jones’s two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the A’s a 5-3 lead. Grant Balfour came on in the night, and after allowing one run shut down Tampa Bay for the victory. Ben Zobrist was 2 for 3 with a home run and a triple, two runs scored and an RBI for Tampa Bay.  Matt Moore pitched into the seventh inning for Tampa Bay, striking out seven and walking just one.

Kansas City 3 – Boston 4 –  Pedro Ciriaco had a two-run double in the seventh inning and Boston starter Jon Lester worked into the eighth and the Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 4-3. Andrew Bailey reported his first save of the season for the Red Sox. David Ortiz activated just before the game had two hits and two RBI. Eric Hosmer hit his 12th home run in the third inning for the Royals.  before the game there was much discussion about a trade  that would send right-hander Josh Beckett, left fielder Carl Crawford and infielder Nick Punto to Los Angeles

Los Angeles 2 – Detroit 1 –   Zack Greinke pitched 7 2/3 innings allowing just one earned run and five hits while striking out five and walking two to lead the Angels to a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Howie Kendrick had two hits and two RBI for Los Angeles. Miguel Cabrera hit his 32nd home runof the year for the Tigers

Toronto 4 – Baltimore 6Chris Davis hit three home runs to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 6-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Jim Johnson recorded his 39th save of the season for Baltimore. Zach Britton pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing just two runs and four hits while striking out six.  Toronto starter Carlos Villanueva gave up four runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings

Chicago 9 – Seattle 8 – Jason Vargas allowed six runs on seven hit in four innings and Adam Dunn hit two home runs as the White Sox beat the Mariners 9-8

New York 3 – Cleveland 1 Sabathia Solid in Return From DL
