AL Recaps – Kinsler, Dempster lead Rangers past Twins

Minnesota 3 – Texas 9 –  Ian Kinsler was a one-man wrecking crew with three hits and four RBI to lead the Rangers over the Twins 9-3. Mitch Moreland contributed with his 14th home run of the season. Justin Morneau collected four hits for the Twins and scored a run and had one RBI. Ryan Dempster went six innings for the Rangers allowing two earned runs and striking out seven, while scattering eight hits.

Oakland 4 – Tampa Bay 2 – Chris Carter and Seth Smith homered for the Athletics and Brandon McCarthy was solid for Oakland pitching seven innings to lead the Athletics over Tampa Bay 4-2. Desmond Jennings homered for the Rays. Jeremy Hellickson was able to get through five innings, but gave up six hits and four runs to take the loss.

Los Angeles 3  – Detroit 5  –   Jhonny Peralta was the hero for Detroit by hitting a two-run double in a three-run eighth inning that led the Tigers over the Los Angeles Angels 5-3. Vernon Wells homered for the Angels.

New York 1  – Cleveland 3Justin Masterson pitched into the seventh inning and Michael Brantley a three-run homer to lead the Indians over the New York Yankees 3-1. Chris Perez came on in the ninth inning for the Indians to pick up his 33rd save of the season. Hiroki Kuroda pitched eight innings and allowed three earned runs while striking out six and walking two, but was the victim of poor run support.

Toronto 2 – Baltimore 8 –  J.J. Hardy scored three runs and homered to lead the Baltimore Orioles over the Blue Jays 8-2. Hardy, Adam Jones and Matt Wieters each had two RBIs for the Orioles. Edwin Encarnacion hit his 34th home run of the season. Brandon Morrow pitched 4 2/3 innings in his return from the disabled list

Seattle 4  – Chicago 5Paul Konerko, Alex Rios, Dewayne Wise, and Kevin Youkilis  each had two hits for the White Sox to lead Chicago over the Seattle Mariners 5-4. Kyle Seager had two home runs for the Mariners

Kansas City 10- Boston 9  – Alex Gordon finished with four RBI and the Royals best the Red Sox 10-9. Mauro Gomez went 4-for-6 with a home run and three RBI for the Sox
