AL Recaps – Adam Dunn Hits 400th Career Home Run – White Sox Lose

Chicago White Sox newsChicago 4 – Kansas City 9 Adam Dunn hit his 35th home run of the year, and his 400th career home run but it was not enough to overcome the Kansas City Royals, and the White Sox lost 9-4.

Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas each homered for the Royals to back up the pitching of Bruce Chen, who pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs.

He struck out five. Jake Peavy suffered the loss for the White Sox. The Royals pounded out 15 hits. Billy Butler and Alex Gordon each had three hits and Alcides Escobar had four hits for Kansas City.

Baltimore 3 – Detroit 2 – Zach Britton pitched seven scoreless innings and Chris Davis hit a three-run homer to lead the Orioles over the Detroit Tigers 3-2 .

Boston 4 – New York 1Jon Lester won his second consecutive game working seven innings, and Adrian Gonzalez hit a two-run homer to beat the New York Yankees 4-1

Texas 2 – Toronto 1Nelson Cruz hit a two-run home run to lead the Texas Rangers over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tampa Bay – Los Angeles – Tampa Bay rallied from eight runs down against Los Angeles starter C.J. Wilson to beat the Angels 10-8. The Rays scored seven runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth to tie the game at eight. Ben Zobrist had a three-run double in the inning and Evan Longoria a two-run homer. Carlos Pena delivered a pinch-hit two-run homer in the eighth inning to take the lead and Fernando Rodney got his 38th save of the season closing out the Angels in the night. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols homered for the Angels.

Minnesota 2 – Seattle 3 –   John Jaso delivered a pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the bottom of the Knights and the Mariners beat the Minnesota Twins 3-2. Justn Smoak homered for the Mariners. Scott Diamond pitched into the seventh inning allowing two earned runs for the Twins

Cleveland 5 –  Oakland 8-  Yoenis Cespedes  hit a home run and drove in three runs to back the pitching of Bartolo Colon.  Shin-Soo Choo,  Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Brantley had two hits each for the Indians
