AL Recaps – Billy Butler Leads Royals Past Orioles

Kansas City Royals NewsKansas City 8  – Baltimore 2 Billy Butler homered in a four-run first inning, doubled in the third and tripled in fifth to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 8-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Wei-Yin Chen allowed a career-high seven runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Matt Wieters homered for the Orioles. Manny Machado went 2 for 4 in his major league debut.

Boston 3 –  Cleveland 5 –  Ubaldo Jimenez struck out 10 Boston Red Sox to earn his first victory in more than a month, allowing three runs over six innings of work. Adrian Gonzalez hit his 12th home run for the Red Sox and Jacoby Ellsbury stole three bases. Chris Perez picked up his 30th save of the season for the Indians.

Toronto 1 –  Tampa Bay 7 – Matt Moore limited the Blue Jays to one run and two hits in six innings, Henderson Alvarez allowed six runs — four earned — in 4 2/3 innings.  Evan Longoria went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Adeiny Hechavarria is 1 for 14 with seven strikeouts since his call up.

New York 4 – Detroit 3 – Mark Teixeira and Eric Chavez hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning to lead the Yankees to a victory over the Detroit Tigers.
