Stanton (DL) Back In Action For Marlins

Miami Marlins NewsThe Miami Marlins activated outfielder Giancarlo Stanton from the 15 day disabled list. Stanton underwent knee surgery in early July and was expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks.

Stanton was 5-16 with  two home runs in a four-game rehab assignment at Class A Jupiter.

Before his injury, Stanton compiled an impressive batting line of .284/.364/.554 with 19 home runs, 50 RBI and a .919 OPS in 80 games played this season.

Stanton will return to a Marlins team that only scarcely looks like the team he left when he was injured.

The Marlins traded Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers, Hanley Ramirez and Randy Choate to the Dodgers, and Gaby Sanchez to the Pirates, since Stanton last played for the Marlins.

Miami Marlins News – Emilio Bonifacio‘s thumb injury isn’t as bad as initially feared and could be back in the lineup for the Marlins in 2 to 3 weeks.  The team placed INF Donnie Murphy on the 15-day disabled list.
