AL Recaps – Ryan Dempster Gives Up 8 runs in Rangers Debut

Texas Rangers NewsRyan Dempster started his first game for the Texas Rangers. Dempster did not have the type of game that’s going to instill a lot of confidence in Texas.

Dempster gave up eight runs in 4 1/3  innings including home runs from Kendrys Morales  and Mark Trumbo.

Dempster threw 103 pitches in his outing. It was the most runs Dempster has allowed in a game this year.

The game became a slug-fest with the two teams combining for 29 hits and 23 runs. The Rangers scored four in the seventh inning, and took a four-run lead 12-8

Angels starter C.J. Wilson gave up eight runs on 10 hits to his former team.

Ironically Roy Oswalt entered the game in relief in the sixth inning. Oswalt was replaced in the rotation, when the acquisition of Dempster was made.

Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz hit home runs for the Rangers. Josh Hamilton, Kinsler, Elvis Andrus, Michael Young, Mitch Moreland,  and Geovany Soto all had multiple hits for the Rangers.
