Phillies Trade Hunter Pence to Giants for Schierholtz – Joseph – Rosin

Philadelphia Phillies NewsLess than an hour after trading outfielder Shane Victorino,  Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro traded Hunter Pence to the San Francisco Giants, for OF Nate Schierholtz and minor league reliever Seth Rosin

Pence, 29, is batting .271/.336/.447 and is under team control for 2013, albeit at $14 million.

Pence was acquired by the Phillies  in a trade last year with the Houston Astros.

With Amaro’s aggressiveness in making trades, Joe Blanton and Cliff Lee could be next on the trade list.

According to sources the deal does not include Gary BrownBrandon Belt or Kyle Crick

Tommy Joseph a minor-league catcher/first baseman is headed for the Phillies in the trade. Joseph is hitting .260/.313/.391 at AAA this year.

Schierholtz has a 270/.319/.412 batting line.
