Yu Darvish and David Freese Win The Final Vote For All-Star Game

All Star GameWith all the shameless promotion that is the major league baseball All-Star game, MLB announced today the winners of the Final Vote for the 83rd All-Star game to be played July 10 in Kansas City at Kauffman Stadium.  After the vote the Texas Rangers Yu Darvish and the St. Louis Cardinals David Freese will be added to their respective rosters in each league. MLB begins promoting the All-Star game in April.

Washington nationals rookie phenom Bryce Harper was not added to the National League squad at this time. Chipper Jones who would have been a leading contender to win the Final Vote was added to the team earlier this week due to Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp being unable to play. You can be sure that if there is a way to include Harper in the game MLB will find a way.

The MLB All-Star game is the most popular of all star games in all the major sports. While it absorbs its share of criticism, baseball fans support the game in mass.

The winner of the All-Star game gets home field advantage in the World Series.
