Philadelphia Phillies Roy Halladay Could Miss Two Months

The Philadelphia Phillies placed ace starter Roy Halladay on the 15 day disabled list where he is expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks. . Doctors confirmed a diagnosis of a strained latissimus dorsi. apparently, there is no structural damage and Halladay will be shut down completely for at least three weeks.

Tthe Phillies pitching staff has been thin due to injuries with another starter, Vance Worley,  down with elbow trouble, and Cliff Lee missed a few starts with a strained oblique. the last time Halladay missed time with an arm injury was 2004, when he made only 21 starts because of a shoulder issue.

This season he is 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA, however the speed of his fastball and cutter are down significantly. “Our division’s going to be very tight,” Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel said before his team played the Mets at Citi Field. “That’s why it’s very important for us to kind of keep our head above water. We want to win all the games we possibly can, but we’ve got to stay alive.” Halladay is the consummate professional and will work hard to rehabilitate his injury.
